Colin Matthews -Asana, Intuitive Development, the Art of Teaching, Yoga Therapeutics

Colin Matthews is the founding director of Kula, and the Director of Kula Oakville's Teacher Training program. He has been a dedicated student of Yoga since 1998 with a special focus in contemporary Hatha. Colin continues to study in great depth the teachings of Modern Mystics, such as Caroline Myss, and he shares methods of cultivating intuitive faculties through the practice of Yoga.

Colin invites an ever-evolving conversation with oneself and in community. His teaching is rooted in a passion for life, self-empowerment, healing, transformation, and the power of intention. He holds two degrees in Education and Physical Education, and he values learning and sharing knowledge with the express purpose of life-affirming application. His light-hearted spirit inspires a playful and engaged practice, and he is known for weaving philosophy, spirituality and compassionate being in the daily living practice of Yoga.
 

Grant Hutchinson - Asana, Pranayama & Meditation, The Art of Teaching
Currently on sabbatical

Grant’s teaching blends precise alignment instruction with engagement of the students' qualitative experience through awareness of breath. His classes establish a supportive environment for the exploration of impermanence through the mind/ body practice of yoga.

Grant has been practicing yoga since 2001 and teaching since 2005. He has had the great fortune to study intensively with Ron Reid and Diane Bruni of Downward Dog, Michael Stone and Richard Freeman in the Ashtanga Vinyasa discipline along with his studies in India and Thailand. 

Beth Rutty - Asana, Pranayama, The Art of Teaching

Beth’s teaching flows from the heart, marrying the body, breath and mind to the attunement of infinite beauty within and all around. She encourages students to cultivate the awareness and skills to connect to their teacher within, and to live in the fullness of their embodiment.

Beth is an Anusara-Inspired teacher, and she continues to draw from her yoga training in the styles of Iyengar and Ashtanga yoga. Beth has studied Anusara Yoga intensively with Todd Norian, Ann Greene, Martin and Jordan Kirk, and John Friend.
 

Dr. Douglas Brooks - Tantric Philosophy, 300-Hour Training

Dr. Douglas Brooks is among the world’s leading scholars of Hindu Tantrism and the esoteric traditions of the Goddess. He holds a Masters and Doctorate degree from Harvard University’s Center for the Study of World Religions. Douglas has held academic positions both in India and the United States, and he is currently a Professor of Religion at the University of Rochester in New York.

In addition to his formal Western education, Douglas lived for many years in India in the house of his Teacher, Gopala Iyer Sundarmoorthy, an eminent scholar of Hinduism and a Master of the Tantric Goddess tradition known as Auspicious Wisdom, or Shri Vidya.

Douglas is the author of a number of books and scholarly articles on Hinduism and the Comparative Study of Religion.

Hareesh Chris Wallis - History of Yoga

Hareesh Chris Wallis’ teaching balances accuracy with accessibility, profundity with clarity, and intellectual integrity with heart-expanding inspiration.

As a gifted scholar, Hareesh holds a Masters in Sanskrit from U.C. Berkeley, an M.Phil. in Classical Indian Religions from the University of Oxford, and he is currently completing doctoral research at Berkeley on the traditions of Tantric Shaivism.

He received traditional education at yoga āshramas in upstate New York and India in meditation, kirtan, mantra-science, asana, karma-yoga, and more. He currently teaches meditation, yoga darshana (philosophy), Sanskrit, chanting, and sometimes offers spiritual life-coaching.
 

Jesse Enright - Anatomy and Physiology

Jesse has been a student of hatha yoga for fifteen years and a full time yoga instructor for the past twelve. He has studied under senior instructors in India, Australia, Canada and the U.S including Gioia Irwin (Vijnana Yoga) and Doug Keller (Yoga Therapeutics). He is also trained in Craniosacral Therapy and is certified in the Muscle, Balance and Function system of biomechanical re-education. He has been developing extensive curriculum and has taught alignment and anatomy for teacher training programs since 2003.

In 2004, Jesse developed SmartYoga, an approach dedicated to an objective and scientific study of the amazing technology of yoga postures and their effect on the human body. He has a private yoga therapeutics practice working with individuals, doctors, massage therapists and chiropractors to develop personalized yoga programs for people with pain and injury.

Marisa Morin

Marisa Morin - Intuitive Development, Subtle Body Consciousness

Marisa has studied around the world with great masters, in tribes, in wilderness, in ashrams, sacred places, and sanctuaries. With great clarity and attunement, Marisa assists students to understand and experience the layers of consciousness embedded in the subtle body energy field to support their evolving practice toward deep connection and heightened awareness on their personal journeys, and as future Yoga teachers.

Sue Elkind, Pre/Post Natal Teacher
Sue has been teaching yoga since the mid 90's and was certified in Anusara Yoga in January 2002. Sue has become nationally recognized for her inspiring, endearing, and detailed teaching method.

Sue's thoughtful and delightful style gently but perceptibly raises students' practices to the next level. Her passion for learning and incorporating yoga into all aspects of her life, including being a mother of two, creates an inexhaustible enthusiasm to teach from the heart.

Sue spent over five years as co-owner of a successful yoga studio in Los Angeles. She then moved to Rochester, New York to study with Dr. Douglas Brooks, Professor of Religious Studies at the University of Rochester, and among the world's leading scholars on Hinduism. Sue and her family now live in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. She is the co-owner of DIG Yoga in Lambertville, NJ and Philadelphia, PA.
